They are flexible and he has a "regular" foot (not wide, not narrow) and these seem to fit him well.

They are worn on almost a daily basis, including swimming in the river. At the beginning of this summer, the strap broke on one pair. After wearing another pair of shoes for a few weeks, our daughter asked for another pair of these for our trip to Disneyland. The shoes have an adjustable strap on the heal that allowes for a custom fit. It also extends the life of the shoe because you can get another 1/2 to 1 full size by adjusting the strap. Neither of our girls have ever complained of their feet hurting even after a full day of walking.

I work at a nature park and wore these all day long on the first day. No hot spots, no blisters, very "cushy". Love these. Might pucker around toe area if you had to tighten it a whole lot, I didn't have to. Would buy every color if more were available.
