good midrange hardtail with disc brakes By Marin Bob from Marin County, CA on 01/04/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Lightweight, Versatile Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend pro: good components. (exc. spoke gauge, below).
con: arrived UPS with very bent (rear) derailleur hanger, would not shift worth a darn. took two days locally to get it fixed (hanger is integral to frame, which had to be straightened).
con: 15 gauge spokes haven't held up to hard use on my prior Eldridge Grade, replaced most of those on the rear wheel; local shops only provide this size spoke with 15 gauge nipples, so in case of a spoke repair the tire must be removed and nipple swapped out for 14 gauge replacement.
