I do not have wide shoulders, but do have ample bust. If you are less well endowed it may work better for you. I was going to size up to see if that worked, but they are out of the next size. The dress is also shorter than most - it hit me about 6" above the knee (I am 5'6").

That makes it a bit easier to get into the *very* slim torso, so if you're between sizes you'll probably get away with the higher of the two. But if you're a good fit for a typical 8, order a 10. Very flattering dress!
