By Adventure Sprite from MA on 01/05/2010 Pros: Breathable, Bug-repellant, Comfortable, Lightweight, Packable Cons: Discolor when new, Easy to tear, wrinkle easily Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking, Hot buggy places, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these for day hiking in New Zealand and walking around India. They had great ventilation, and seemed to repel insects well, so are perfect for casual situations in warm, insect-ridden places. The tag warns you that the material will discolor while you wear it before the first wash, but after washing they look fine again, so wash before you travel! They did wrinkle quite a bit in our suitcases, but they pack small, and have a reasonable number of pockets. The material is very lightweight, so not the best for scrambling through brambles; we have small holes in both our pairs from this. The rip-stop material kept the holes from spreading though, so it wasn't a problem. They dry quickly, and are good for ventilation during day hikes and in warm climates.
The fit was ok, but not great. The legs were a bit short (on my 6'2" husband and myself at 5'9"), and the ankles were tighter than we're used to, so they're great outdoors but best not worn in town.
