Size small fits me very well, sleeve ends hold onto my wrist. There is an elastic band around the waist, I personally don't mind it although I do tend to prefer shirts without a tight waistband.

-Huge chest. pit-to-pit for small (36) measures 20"... which is 40"
Further, the armshape at pit is HUGE... 19" tall measured vertically... so the 40" measurement above is actually ribcage-high. This gives the sweater a comical V exaggeration because it skin-tight at waist.
Feels very nice. I wish it was fit better.
