The handle is a different material than the leash and is quite comfortable. I was confused by other reviewers referring to the adjustable length. It is pretty much either 6' long or 3' long if you are using it as a leash. The clip is also handy if you are using it to tie your dog to a post or tree. You can do so without unclipping your pet.
