By Burnt Fingers from S. Cal. on 12/18/2008 Pros: Easy to Light, Powerful Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Comments: I have never had a stove boil as fast as this thing. Hot water right now ! On the other hand, it is a little fussy about adjusting the low temps. Haven't tried to really simmer anything yet, but probably haveto keep an eye on things and stir often. Definately seconds. The stove I got doesn't open or close very well. So not a great item, just so so. And be carefull there is a lot of thin stainless sheet metal that may have sharp edges. But if the stove is set up when you get up in the cold you'll have hot coffee as fast as you can get the filters and cup organized. Uses regular propane bottles available almost anywhere. Igot mine at the gorcery store by the Charcoal.
By sandyshoes from Santa Cruz, CA on 10/01/2008 Pros: Great temperature control, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchase the grill stove and am returning it in favor of the competing Coleman product which I picked up at a local store to compare. I am sure that the stove will work fine, but the construction appeared mediocre at best. The stove surface and wind shields were very thin flexible sheet metal and the hinges did not look like they would last very long. The grill had riveted posts for mounting which helps keep the grill from rattling during transit, but looks fragile. The flexible propane hose is superior to the fixed Coleman attachment, but overall the Coleman seems to have higher quality (thicker materials, better hinges, sleeker design. The Primus is larger than the Coleman if cooking surface is important. Sierra makes the price comparable to Coleman, but otherwise it wouldn't be worth paying full price for the Primus.
Uses regular Coleman-type propane bottle By Dave from New River Valley, Va. on 09/15/2008 Pros: Easy To Clean, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Powerful, Stable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In response to the guy who could not find the correct fuel bottles: The statement on the box and in the product description that says "for use with Primus propane cylinders # 2001 and 2012" is INCORRECT! The stove actually uses regular Coleman/generic propane bottles. The mis-print on the box is probably why Sierra Trading Post wound up with these stoves.
