I disagree that this coat is cold. While it is not insulated, it is essentially similar to a three layer Goretex, so it is warmer than just a one layer shell. I wore it cat skiing for five days with a patagonia light polypro top and bib pants. I was only cold once, when the temperature was minus 20 degrees Farenheit. Then, I put a fleece on over the polypro top and under the coat and was toasty warm -- had to open the pit zips after each run. On all but the coldest days of skiing, just the polypro top and this coat is plenty warm. Thank God for the pit zips on most days.
This is a heavy duty coat -- more heavy duty than I expected for the price. So, it's heavy -- not a backpacking shell if that's what you are looking for.
My only gripe is that there are way too many pockets. I thought this would be a good thing, but kept losing stuff.
We will see how long it lasts. I put twenty days on it this year and it still looks like new, and still sheds water like new.

Comments: I think that the cost of the jacket is bit higher and also it is not warm. One needs to have some warm cloth inside and then the jacket works. It is nice in that it prevents the chilling air to penetrate one's body and it's hood is nice which gives great protection.
