By Just Me from Hampton, VA on 11/08/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Windproof Cons: Feathers bunched up, Odor Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: After reading reviews, I had ordered sizing a bit on the large side (for me) in order to achieve both proper fit, and to be able to put other layers under it. As for fit, this part worked out. I am only 5'2" though, and the sleeve size after that was about right for me (size M). i.e.- after puting on several layers underneath, and wearing this coat, the ends of the sleeves naturally hung roughly halfway down my palms, which is how I like coat sleeves to fit. However, I could imagine that someone taller might find the sleeves too short. It was generally comfortable and seemed warm, although I did not wear it outside in cold weather. My primary complaints were that it carried some sort of odor, either from some sort of coating layer, or fabric treatment, or perhaps the feathers themsleves. The coat does seem to have some special waterproofing treatments. In any case, due to my sensitivity to odors, I ended up returning it. Also, I found that some of the inter-baffle striching seemed to have trapped some of the feathers such that they tended to bunch up, and the insulation seemed less evenly distributed as well as less evenly-distributable than desired. This may have been a unique issue with the one that I received though.
By kjuhl from Michigan on 11/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Cons: No gathered cuff inside Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this for its length because I wanted to use it for snow shoveling. Was pleasantly surprised by its trim appearance: Not puffy like a lot of down coats. I'll wear this around town, too! I do wish it had a gathered cuff inside the sleeve to keep out blowing snow, but that's a minor quibble.
