Nothing fancy (the back piece is particle board), but it works well for the price. The back and plastic front come out of the grooves so the whole thing can be stored flat when not in use. I also bought one for my son to hold his textbooks when studying, and as a document holder next to his computer.

I also found that a small, horizontally printed (spiral binding at the top) cookbook could be draped over the plexiglass shield, which was nice. I'm glad to finally have a way to protect my cookbooks, and at a very good price. Looks nice on my counter, too.
