Item was pretty inexpensive, so opted not to even return.

By r-2 from Catskills, NY on 04/08/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Quality Construction Cons: Can not be made narrower, Does not block light Best Uses: Kitchen, Living Room Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, Practical Comments: Note that the description says this shade can be cut with a fine-toothed saw. The shade can not be cut down in width. There is a metal bar at the top of the shade that contains the mechanism. Perhaps it can be shortened. It also lets quite a bit of light through between the slats - in other words it will not keep the sun out of your eyes.

I returned them.
