Great Boots for Climbs and Scrambles By Toby-Wan-Kenobi from Shelton, WA on 10/16/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Like Mountain Goat Hooves, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Climbing, Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Scrambling, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered these boots from STP and have not regretted it for one second since. They fit perfectly with my sock setup (thin poly liners under medium woolies) and required NO BREAK IN. They are mountaineering boots and if you are primarily trail hiking, I might go with a little lighter model. But if you're getting off the trail and on the rocks and snow, these babies are like strapping goats on your feet.
Best boots I've puchased yet By SoloHiker from Thiensville, WI on 08/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Grip, Versatile Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These boots are well designed. Plenty of toe room. The soles roll with your step, making walking easier with a rigid sole. The back of the sole is well defined for plunge-stepping. The Goretex helps keep the feet dry and warm when slogging up snowfields. And best of all, they're not made in China!
By Kilt Hiker from Foothills, NC on 08/05/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Grip Best Uses: Alpine Routes, Creek Crossing, Deep Mud, Heavy Snow, Mixed Routes, Vertical Ice Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We just went on a three day hike at Mt. Rogers in VA and did a chunk of the AT. It rained real hard the first day for a while which provided some deep mud and lots of water puddles. In these boots I didnt even have to look at the trail and watch out for either of them, walked straight through with no worry. The second day was alot of creek crossings and rocky climbs. Once again I didnt have a problem with either with these boots. They kept my feet dry and provided plenty of support for me and my 30lb. pack. At the end of the trip I had comfortable feet with no blisters. This boot does it all and then some. They even look great on the trail when I am wearing my kilt.
