No need to break them in... By Cindy the hiker from Michigan on 09/19/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these in plenty of time to break them in for an up coming trip to the Grand Canyon.
The first time I wore them I went 5 miles with out any problems. They may be one of the best boots
I have owned. For all the features they are pretty light weight!
No breaking-in period needed! By Lindygirl from New York, NY on 07/26/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have used my Renegades for hiking in mountainous jungle without a trail, spelunking in caves, for cold, wet weather in the city, general day hikes in Upstate NY and keeping my feet safe at rock concerts. They're a little warm/heavy for the tropics, but otherwise, I love these boots. I have a hard-to-fit foot: wide toe, high arch, narrow heel. These boots have enough room in the front without heel slippage in the back. I take a size 9 in street shoes, and the size 9 boots allow enough room for heavy socks. Don't order up a size. The absolute best part is that Lowa boots require no break-in period. No blisters, no stiffness -- they are comfortable right out of the box. I've had mine for three years and they're still just as waterproof as when I got them.
By Dayhiker from New Mexico on 07/03/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are the third pair I've had. They aren't quite like the website picture, but all the features seem the same as my earlier ones. For me, their best feature is the fit, and these are comfortable right from the start.
