By Hike1 Hike2 HikeHikeHike from NYC on 08/06/2008 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore these in a torrential downpour. Granted, i was only wearing a raincoat with no rain pants nor gaiters, but they're NOT water-resistant at all under these conditions. It was like wearing little squishy buckets of water. But i suppose very few boots could pass such test... Stability/support and traction suffered a bit too, but still pretty good in those respects.
By Hike 1, Hike 2, HikeHikeHike from NYC on 07/23/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comes in D-wide, Comfortable, Flexible support, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, In light rain Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These came in just in time, an hr B4 my wkend camping trip. My feet are wider than average but I can often still wear a 9.5 in sneakers & boots, so I ordered a 10-D. I put them on immediately, then wore them on 2 moderate-fast dayhikes of 6-8 miles each, & kept them on until bedtime. Temperatures ranged from 65-90; trails ranged from squishy/muddy to rocky/pebbly, some sections covered in wet slippery leaves. It showered lightly on both days.
Result: I love them. No slips, no blisters, no hot spots, no leaks. Perfect fit w/medium-thick hiking socks, enough room for my toes & very breathable. Sufficiently stable and supportive for me. However, those looking for very strong ankle support or thick cushioning might not be as pleased.
By Bat Girl from South Carolina on 07/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Laces don't stay tied Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm in between an 8.5 and a 9. I ordered 9.5 to accommodate insoles with extra arch support, and based on the other comments. It worked out just fine. I work outdoors, and walk on a lot of rough terrain. The extra 2" in height saved me from a sprained ankle on the first day I wore them. They could use a tad more cushioning, but in general, they have been good boots, so far.
