The fit is great: there is a little extra width to them without feeling too wide--very comfy. I've worn these dancing, as well as for every day use. On a few occasions i've worn them to county fairs and bluegrass picks (lots of walking, heel tapping and clogging!), and they wore like champs. You can wear these conservatively, or as a fun "off note" with a unique outfit.
They are real work horses: sturdy and well made, but not dowdy. A great all-round shoe! I have two pairs, the tan and the white, which has me set for just about anything. There is a star design on the back heel (white stitching on a leather patch) which isn't apparent in the site photos, but for me this was a nice surprise and just added to the fun. The sole on the ball of the foot is a nice durable non-slip rubber and the heel sole is a hard plastic. On any other shoe the plastic heel sole could cause a problem with slipping, but these are so well balanced that I have had no trouble with that at all. Terrific shoes!
