The only disadvantages are that you can't just slip them on bacause of the elastic - I need to use my hand. And I'm sure they wouldn't hold up if you wore them outdoors.

They are well-padded and comfortable. I have another pair of Acorn "after-action" shoes which I wear for house slippers on a daily basis that have a tougher sole. I think these will be fine for travel and they are comfortable.
