Left it out in the rain and it still worked fine. It smelled awful like mothballs when I first took it out of the package... I would suggest putting it on your bike and riding with it as soon as possible to speed up the off-gassing process. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to remove from the mounting hardware, but once you get the hang of it its fine. Good conversation piece, too!

It also can double as a pocket sized flashlight, easily detaches from bike mount. Windup mechanism is easy to use. Never needs batteries, so you will never be stuck with a dying light out in the middle of nowhere.
On arrival, it was strangely dusty on the inside of the package, smelled strongly of chemicals and was curiously scuffed, but packaging was intact and product works just fine. The smell has gone away soon after opening.
