superb spring and fall gloves By base camp Gangtok from Northeastern USA on 10/26/2007 Pros: Dries Easily, Durable, Good Grip, Grerat construction, not bulky at all, Snug Fit, Tough stitching, Very versatile Cons: Could use more insulation, Not Weatherproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Bike commuting, Casual Wear, Cross Country, Mountain biking Describe Yourself: 4-season backpacker, Advanced, Hiker, Mountain biker Sizing: Feels true to size This is a very good soft shell gloves by Marmot. Its my go to gloves for mild weather and high impact activities both outdoors and in the streets.
I have used this gloves for running (cool mornings), Mountain biking, Hiking (really early morning in the Adirondacks), etc. While its not very functional in pouring rain, for everything else its a perfect pair of gloves. it has the comfort of a soft fleece gloves, unmatched durability of a tough softshell gloves, and protection of a hard shell gloves. Also, Marmots DWR did a great job handling light rain, snow, and wetness.
The construction of these gloves is really superior to many other softshell gloves available in the market. The only other gloves that come close (at least for me) is the Cloudveil Ice Floe. Okay, I like the Ice Floe a little better cause it has a bit more insulation. But, for the money the the Marmot Glide is a great purchase.
The silicon stripes in the pulm and finger tips make the gloves pretty grippy. This is really useful whether you are mountain biking or driving. They are also great if you are climbing. the reinforced finger tips also add to the durability of these gloves.
Overall they are near perfect for mild weather usage. The only reason i gave them a 4 star (and not the 5 star) is because I would have liked a bit more insulation than whats available in the gloves right now.
