By Strada from Seattle on 08/13/2008 Pros: Easy To Carry, Tight Closure Best Uses: Fishing, Paddling Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The main compartment of this pack is closed with a water resistant zipper. With the zipper tabs on the side of the pack, water won't run inside. I got this for kayaking so that my personal stuff are protected from sprays and rain. I also use this as a light pack for fishing. It's just the right size for a few fly boxes and angling gear when I hit the rivers or the salt water for a day of fishing.
By Dryflyin from LA on 07/17/2008 Pros: Easy To Carry, Feature Rich, Good Capacity, Strong Material Cons: Difficult to zip closed Describe Yourself: Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I'm not convinced that it's really waterproof and would not leak when fully immersed. The main pouch has the two opposing zippers so it can be opened in either direction. Where the two zippers meet, there would seem to be a potential leak.
As a flyfisherman, I expect the pack to occasionally get completely dunked. I purchased this pack to protect my digital camera and other gear.
Also, the zippers, because they are the sealing type, are difficult to close on the main pouch. The material flexes as one tugs on the zipper, such that the direction of pull is no longer the same as the direction to close the zipper.
