Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm a birder and use this vest for toting along field guides and the like. The pockets don't have velcro which, as a birder, I like...no noise. I also like that it doesn't have a zipper closure, just a single snap. The vest stays closed, but still offers some ventilation. I do wish there was one interior zip pocket for keys, money and ID. Maybe also a big back pocket for a small water bottle or one of my larger field guides to help counter balance the stuff I have in the front pockets. I can't really speak to the bug repellant aspect. Can't say I've noticed a huge difference...maybe I'll put it to the test when we travel to northern MN this summer. Other than that, it's a nice, lighweight, reasonably priced vest.
