I bought this pack primarily to carry my gear for my job as an ecologist and monitoring specialist. I needed something that could carry field books, a clipboard, camera, GPS unit, hydration pack and extra clothes, without squashing my lunch! I love this pack because it has a number of separate compartments so I can keep everything organized and not end up with a gooey ball of peanut butter and jelly dough where once I had a sandwich.
The pack fits so well that I hardly even know I'm carrying extra weight. I've tried many packs and this one fits better than any I've had in years. It sits just right on my hip bone rather than in the middle of my back and the shoulder straps don't pinch my neck.
My only complaint is that the zippered opening on the main compartment is a little small making it hard to pack bulky items like my clipboard.
