I was looking for something lightweight and compact for backpacking and this exactly fits my needs. I'm 5' 3" and the 3/4 length works great with the advantage of even more reduced weight. (It's half the compacted size and weight of my traditional pad.) The trade-off however is minimal cushioning. After using it several nights I noticed when sleeping on my side my hip's key contact point was getting sore. Another minor ding is that it did not come with its own stuff sack or strapping to hold the rolled up pad. I'm happy, in spite of these shortcoming, as it is a great alternative lightweight and compact pad for summer backpacking that I hope to be using for many years to come.

This pad is not too much different from the ground. Going with a standard styrofoam pad instead.

not on the ground. This must be a pad for a narrow, specific set of conditions, though I'm not sure what they are. Maybe it's best for gearheads who want to fill a niche in their collection. After I received the pad, I tested it out on different floors, hard wood, different carpets, tile, etc. It was very comfortable on a plush rug, but not so much on anything else. I found that the feel, not surprisingly, mirrors the surface its on. I imagine that, in humid, sandy, beach-like conditions (maybe the Outer Banks), this pad would come into its own, and the breathability it touts as a pro would actually matter. On the rocky ground in the humid Great Smoky Mtns Nat'l Park, however, it doesn't.

I have yet to use this for its intended purpose: hot weather sleeping. I tested it against a hard wood floor. Without the pad, instant pressure points on my tailbone and at my hips and shoulders; with this thin (c. 1/4" pad), pressure points disappear as if by magic! The pad has a ripstop nylong backing cloth and room to slip in an "uber-lite" foam pad for more "cush" if desired and in order to provide more protection again cold. I will look for it or make my own. With this item, one can be both "minimalist" and "comfort driven" at once.

This pad sounded like a great idea but fails. There is virtually no padding for pressure points unless you have the body density of a marshmallow. I used it on my cot at a very hot and humid Boy Scout camp and I could detect no improvement in air circulation. I would return it if I had not already labeled it with a marker.
