Answer The inseam is 9" on a medium as the outside seam from hip to leg is 20" total. It is a good warm weather riding short.

Answer I sent them back, both for fit, and because the fabric was MUCH heavier than I'd hoped. I think they'd be far too hot, especiallly in Tucson!

Answer They are similar fabric to some of my hiking shorts. I think they will breathe and be comfortable in all but extremely hot temps.
