I bought these socks for three reasons: 1) They are made in England 2) The high wool content, and 3) They are over the calf. I've only worn them once, but so far I really like them. I always buy two of each pair in case one sock wears out I still can wear them. I bought both the black and grey. A very nice dress sock!

These are probably the best over the calf socks I have used. While they are pretty thin and maybe will wear out quicker than some other brands own, they stay up all day, I NEVER feel like they are creeping down my legs. I also own some of Pantherella's mid-calf socks and they are not quite as satisfactory as these are.

I ordered the "R", which STP describes as "shoe size 7-11". The tag on the sock reads "Medium, UK 7.5-9.5, EU 42-44, US 8.5-11". On the Pantherella website, the sizing guide lists 3 sizes for "stretch socks" -- Small (US 7-8), Medium (US 8.5-11), and Large (US 11.5-13). Laid out flat on a ruler, the foot is 11" from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel; it's 18.5" from the bottom of the heel to the top of the sock. The circumference at the big toe joint is 8".
So if you wear a US men's size 7, this sock is too big.

I would get the regular as it will stretch some.

Pantherella wool socks for men are sold in regular sizes, covering size 7 to 11 feet, and large sizes, covering 11.5 to 13.5. If you are sometimes wearing an 11.5, the large size is recommended for a comfortable fit and to allow for an potential laundering shrinkage.

To your question about size, buy the larger. It should be perfect for a size 11.

If you plan to put these socks in the dryer and you are tall 6 feet 3 at least, buy the large size otherwise buy the regular. They are very big. This is our second batch, the first was size regular. These are better for my husband who is tall and has size 12 feet because they shrink a bit in the dryer, but stay good looking.
