No, I would not recommend this to a friend
They ran way too small. They were hard as a rock. They look like shoes you would buy at a discount drug store. Quite honestly I do not believe Patagonia really manufactured them.

    General walking hiking

I use these for general walking and hikings through an adjacent forest, covered with rocks, down-fallen trees, crossing creeks, etc. I am not a runner but needed something sturdy and waterproof.

These are mostly wonderful trail runners. We have frequent wet weather here in Washington state, and these (so-far-so-good) have stayed dry on wet, muddy runs. I hope that continues. Definitely runs small, I have never ordered a 9.5 in anything in my life, but the 9.5 fits perfectly. The arch support is not super, so for serious flat-footers, you may reconsider this shoe. Overall, very pleased.
