These shoes/boots not only feel great out of the box, but look great too. I wear them to work most days and live in them on weekends. I don't know that I would want to be on the trail for days in them, but they are perfect for weekends and urban hiking. I was worried that the Polartec lining would make them feel too warm, but that is not the case. They are perfect for the Bay Area.

An exceptional boot right out of the box. Just received a couple of days ago, but they seem to fit perfect to size. Very warm and stable during hikes. Not sure about duability. I will let you know in six months. . .

Living in Colorada you need shoes that are comfortable and sturdy to wear in the winter. Ranger Smith fits the bill in all categories and they are smart looking as well and can be worn to dinner when the snow and slush will ruin a pair of dress shoes.

I purchased these in the teakwood color - then noticed the good deal on the black ones. I had to get another pair. They have the support of a boot with a boot sole...but look like moccasins. They are also ridiculously comfortable and look great with khakis, jeans, or whatever. These work from my office, to construction sites, to throwing back a beer or seven at the local tavern. I do have a slightly narrow foot, and these fit fantastically for that. Solid purchase.

These short boots are very, very comfortable (I'd not seen Patagonia shoes/boots before and tried these -- extremely pleased!) The recycling of materials is a good thing; the rugged soles feel very sure-footed in snow and slush (even some icy patches) with robust, knobby texture. Very comfortable right out of the box; a good height, lined with soft poly fleece for warmth and cushioning, and made of good grained leather. Excellent fit, quality, and many uses for me !
