These are my second pair of Scree Shields, and I didn't hesitate to purchase them again. I do quite a bit of hiking in muddy coastal terrain and rocky areas. I generally wear a US 9, and that is what I purchased this time. I will say that my first pair were 9.5's. The toes on my larger foot touched just a bit on the downhill portion of the hike, otherwise the width and length were good. I generally wear a half-size larger in hiking boots with cushy socks for this reason. The 9's are perfect for generally running around and light hiking. They are water proof and sturdy, my first pair needed replacing after a year because I started having a lot of foot slippage towards the ball of the foot. I did wear them almost daily through out the Fall and Winter and generally hike 3-4 days a week.

Love Patagonia, though now I must be a small 9.5 instead of 9.

I ordered this shoe because I was told it is made on the same last as the Mid Release. I love the Mid Release shoe. The shoe runs a half a size smaller than the Mid Release. I'm not sure why. It is also wider than the Mid Release. It will not work for a narrow foot. Perhaps the manufacturer gave me incorrect information. It is a well made shoe and should last a long time. I returned it.
