I thought the fit was a little on the big side. I'm 5'10", 170 lbs. with athletic build and wear a medium in everything. I don't like baggy so I returned the medium for a small. Besides that, it's a sweet jacket.

This is a great jacket but the sizing is way off for Patagonia. My husband normally wears between a medium and large in Patagonia jackets and he was able to fit the small in this particular coat. He has since skiied in it several times and it is perfect with base layers for weather that is everything but extremely cold.

Just what I wanted. The other reviews were accurate and I ordered a L rather than an XL and the resulting fit was perfect.

I have used this coat on 5 ski days so far this season (Alyeska, AK) and it has performed well. The coat is definetely bullet proof (it has fended off some heavy and wet early season Alaskan Fresh admirably) and comfortable. I also really like the functionality of the coat as it has several nifty pockets for stashing everything from your iPhone and wallet to granola bars, on days when you don't want to wear a pack. My only caution is that this coat runs a little big and is a baggy fit. So for people seeking a form fitting jacket this is probably not the one, however for anyone looking for a comfy and reliable shell to fend off the elements this is a good option. I am 6'1" and 185lbs and decided to go with a L and definetely would not go any bigger.

Followed advice from comments and purchased a medium instead of normal size (large). Good decision!Worn only once so far in heavy rain but lives up to claim regarding ability to shed water. Well engineered with lots of pockets. Too heavy for minimalist backpackers but will be great for watching grandson's soccer games...and I may even try it for rowing some cold, rainy Northwest morning.

I bought this jacket for skiing, but I haven't used it for that purpose yet. I've worn it a few times in wet weather, and it has worked well. The quality feels good. Generally, I'm somewhere between a medium and large, and the medium in this jacket fits perfectly, even with a heavy sweater underneath. I only gave it four stars since I haven't tried it for skiing yet, which is its intended purpose.

Sizing runs large for Patagonia. I usually wear a Large but had to order a whole size down.

This is a great jacket from Patagonia, but it seems to be designed more as a bad-conditions ski/snowboard jacket. As advertised by Patagonia, it is cut on their "relaxed" fit, so buyer beware. I'm on the border with Patagonia sizing- I take a small in their button-downs, polos, etc., but with fleeces and outerwear I've generally been a medium. I returned the medium because I was swimming in it, but the small is a bit snug under the arms, that with a lightweight long sleeved shirt underneath. As for the construction, it's typical Patagonia-- solidly built, good attention to details. This is NOT a lightweight jacket! It's a 2-layer jacket with a mesh liner, and it feels built to take on bad conditions. Wear it in a warm summer rain and you'll be sweating. All in all a great jacket!

Not true to size, I ordered a large and it was too large, disappointed in the product, it seamed like a low end jacket not something I would expect from Patagonia.
