Reviewed by BikerB from Maryland on Monday, April 18, 2016I'd disagree with the criticism by other reviewers of the fabric-- I have another pair of PI shorts with very similar fabric, and the mesh inserts are fine (they don't expose anything, and they do provide ventilation), and I've never had any problem with the fabric tearing or anything even though it's not super heavyweight. So when I initially took them out of the bag I was hopeful. Two things were dealbreakers for me-- first, they are very, very long, going to about 1.5"-2" below my knees (I'm about 5'8", with shorter legs, so if you're taller this obviously won't be an issue), which to me is a completely unnecessary annoyance. But the real kicker was that they only have one pocket on the front. Not sure what the designer was thinking when they figured that one pocket was ok but two was just over the top, but since I really like having zippered pockets to stash things in while I'm riding, this was a dealbreaker for me. Too bad, as the fabric and chamois were great!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by bobf from Texas on Friday, December 25, 2015The are kind of weird. The fabric that runs thru the shorts for ventilation is not a good idea imo. I bought these for my son, and we took them on a bike tour the other day. The liners were tight on him, but the shorts not that great. Zoic makes a better short, as does endura.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Chris Z from Santa Cruz on Monday, October 12, 2015You can't see it in the pictures, but the "black" stripe is really a 1 inch band of see-through mesh. Even with the undergarment on, I could see my knees through the fabric. Strange design. Not sure what Pearl Izumi was thinking.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Dance Faery from San Francisco Bay Area on Tuesday, September 2, 2014These went back. Not only are they super long in comparison to the other bike shorts of their type (hitting past the knee), there are cheesy, sheer mesh panels pieced into the legs that look delicate, and are reminiscent of women's lingerie. Weird design!
