This is a great jacket for fit and breathability. My one complaint is that the material began "pilling" after I wore a hydration pack with it on a long ride. The material "pilled" wherever the straps hit the gray "breathable" parts on the jacket. I was pretty disappointed, since I really do like the jacket, yet I will probably send it back since it seems that the fabric won't hold up to this kind of repeat use. If you are a straight cyclist and don't wear a pack/bag, then no problem. Otherwise, consider something a little more durable.

Tested it out today on a 50 miler in 40 degree weather. It was perfect, and even when it warmed up a little, I didn't get hot like I normally do with things that have micro fleece.

I really like this jacket. Keeps me nice and warm on cool days, but doesn't get "sauna-like" warm as some of my hard shells do. I bought this jacket for warmth and some water resistance for the occasional light rain shower. For heavy rain I use my rain jacket over the top.

I bought this to wear as an outer layer in cooler weather. I tried it out once for a 20 mile ride and my complaint is the same as the first reviewer's. If you wear any kind of knapsack, the straps will rub on the breathable part of the jacket that runs down the side of your body. After one use I could see some pilling. Secondly, the fit was too tight in the hip in a medium. I actually have small hips and Medium is my size. So go figure. It is a flattering piece and stylish but the points I mentioned were a deal breaker. I'm returning it.

I usually layer this over top of my thermal cycling jersey when the temps drop or when rain threatens. I did get caught in the rain once - the jersey kept me warm and mostly dry (it's not waterproof all over). I also wore the jersey over a thermal base layer when hiking on Mt Rainier in October. Again, it was perfect for this activity!
