The Penguin Footwear story all started back in 1955 when a carefree salesman from Minneapolis named Abbot Pederson bought a stuffed penguin in a New York City gift shop. After taking the bird home with him, Pederson had an idea to create his own company, and the original Penguin brand was born. Although the brand was revamped in the early 2000s, Penguin shoes still retain the superior quality and style that made Penguin sneakers such a success half a century ago.
