Definitely worth the moneyVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Louisiana on Wednesday, June 10, 2015I have used several of the Pentax Gameseeker scopes, mostly 4-12X40, and find them to be well worth the money. Obviously, the ranging reticle is not dead on for every cartridge for every caliber. But, once you know your load's trajectory, it is easy to make repeatable hits from 100-500 yards with standard calibers and 200-600 with magnums. I have more than one rifle, not custom, that shoot minute of angle with these scopes. No they are not top of the line scopes, but they don't cost $1500-2000 either. I would definitely recommend them to a friend, NOT to an enemy though (they are just too good).

And the customer service at sierra is second to none!

1.0 out of 5 stars. doubtful for deer huntingReviewed by frankie from maine on Monday, February 17, 2014I tried this scope on a .270 and other deer guns. Could not get consistent groups. I'm guessing it was a paralax issue? I switched to a Bushnell 3200 and took the .270 back down to subMOA at 100 yards. I put this scope on a .22 WMR and it's pretty good in the 50 to 125 yard range on that gun. I paid about $100 retail when I bought the scope (local shop, not STP). I'd say if you need an inexpensive scope for a deer rifle, plan on spending about $150 minimum for a Nikon or a Bushnell (elite series with rainguard is well proven under Maine deer season conditions). If you spend less than that you may not be happy with your groups, and the clarity may not be there when you need it on your hunt. If your on a budget for your deer rifle I'd suggest a higher quality fixed power scope over a lower quality adjustable power scope. If possible check out the mounting position of the scope and eye relief on your rifle with the rings you'll be using. If the eye relief is not a natural position you'll run into more paralax issues. Bottom line, not a good choice for your deer gun; maybe a good choice on your rimfire if the price is right.
