Many sub $400 spotting scopes all generally have the same problem when you crank them up to 50-60mm your eye ball has to be touching the viewing lens glass (What I call lack of eye relief.) to see the whole view. (Field of view) So it can be hard to use many less expensive spotting scopes at their highest power with out loosing field of view or having to glue your eyeball to the glass lens.(Uncomfortable and hard to use at the range.) I found the Pentex spotting scope to be of solid construction, simple to use, but to me most importantly the eye relief was good. I have taken the unit out to test the eye relief, focus, and quality and so far I would give it a 7 out of 10. (10 would be a name brand in the 2-3K range. ) I have a couple of units I bought in the $80-150 range but this one is far superior to those. I have looked at the name brands in the $300-$500 range and I felt this one was as good or better than some of those. So if you need a good spotting scope try this one out. [...]
