What a surprise! Often, Aran-type wool sweaters are heavy, scratchy, coarse, and smell of lanolin. THIS sweater is so soft, it might be mistaken for a cashmere blend. It's a rather 'open' knit, so it might snag (we have dogs), but with a little care it should be fine. I bought the navy--classic, war... Read More

  • “What guage is the sweater?”
Asked by Dan The Woodmaker from St. Pet Florida on 7/30/2010 12:00:00 AM
    • I'm not sure of the gauge but the sweater is very light in weight and soft and snuggly to the touch...like that of a soft baby blanket...certainly not the weight of the fisherman's sweater from back in the day (lol...late 70's). The knit stitching is very loose which could be a good thing if you're looking for something that doesn't look brand new.

    • This sweater is made with medium-guage wool yarn - very good quality material...BUT it is a very loose knit, almost like crochet. It is a stretchy and open stitch , NOT a tight dense knit. It is warm as a layer but not heavy enough to block a chilly wind.

  • “What is the sleeve length on the medium? Thanks!”
Asked by STP Lover! from Cold Massachusetts on 2/10/2010 12:00:00 AM
    • The sleeve length of the medium is 33 to 34 inches.
