Reviewed by John from Maryland on Wednesday, November 20, 2013I searched long and hard for an old-fashioned rag wool sweater. This was as close as I could find. The wool is soft and the buttons are strong. Like other customers, I question the utility of the upper pockets. Likewise, the sweater fits a bit snug through the middle. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. It meets my needs.
Reviewed by Shaft from NY on Saturday, March 23, 2013A few things to point out. It is 100% new wool, but it's 100% new MERINO wool. It says it on the tag attached and the Peregrine website confirms that. I took a chance because regular wool is itchy to me, but this is merino wool, a whole different ball game.
It's a very dark green, almost brownish. It has a nice weight to it. It also has a classic look to it that means you can wear this for years to come. I also like the fact that I won't see everyone wearing this sweater.
A few things to note:
One reviewer pointed out that smaller pockets up top, and they're right, but it's not really noticeable or that big of deal (to me at least). It does bring question to the utility of the pockets.
The buttons are relatively loose and I find myself being gentle because I'm scared I'm going to loose one. I might have someone tighten the thread on them.
With the right coupon, this is an absolute steal!
Reviewed by Blake from Gettysburg, PA on Thursday, February 28, 2013I am 5'8 and often wear the kilt. I ordered the small, on risk that it might be too long to start with-one cold wash in woolite and about 20mins in the dryer gets it perfect and takes out the very acidic smell it comes with. Length is just short enough not to reach beyond the start of the pleats. The quality is par none, a true gem of British textiles. Well worth the money. I wear mine instead of a coat; it is very thick and heavy. Good investment for a kiltie.
Reviewed by No Go Joe from NYC on Monday, January 28, 2013This well-made sweater is soft and comes in a great color.
The BIG problem is the TINY chest pockets.
These ludicrously small pockets are located in just the right spot to make it look like I'm wearing a tiny knit bikini top.
I just returned a size L-
I'm 6'4", slim, and I wear a 42 long jacket.
Smaller sized guys might have better luck with this item.
