Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by Canyon Man from Eldo Co. on Friday, November 15, 2013I read some reviews and decided to go with a Large. Should have gone with the XL. The coat seemed a little light in the insulation department. Didn't wear it - so don't really know if it is warm. The jacket seemed to be fine other than the size issue.
Reviewed by Erin from Indiana on Thursday, November 7, 2013My son hasn't wanted to take his coat off since he received it. It is warm and lightweight, so he loves it. The coat runs a little small, but we already knew this so we ordered up a size.
Reviewed by Colin from Oregon on Monday, October 28, 2013This is a great down jacket! Most down jackets are cut for the average non athletic person, not so with the Phenix. This is a very nicely put together jacket with great loft (really is 800) and a nice slimmer cut. Still large enough to fit layers under it but doesn't end up looking like a cheap bulky jacket. I'm 6'1 180 with a 41.5 chest and 34.5 sleeve; the large fits perfectly. If you are much taller you might go with the XL as the sleeves are perfect on me. For the chest, I'd think you'd be fine up to about a 44 but any bigger and definitely do the XL. The non-down areas are a windproof fleece type material that moves well and actually makes this a better jacket. Add in the great STP price and this jacket is a no-brainer.
Reviewed by Xavier from Australia on Friday, October 18, 2013Don't be fooled by the 800 fill grade. There's hardly any down inside this jacket, you're practically paying for something featherless.
I'm still trying to figure out what applicable scenario I can use this for, but seriously, don't waste your time.
Answer It is wind and water resistant. The bag is 5" diameter, 10.5" tall. It could be worn under the Hardanger Shell.
