Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by Ryan from WNY on Saturday, December 26, 2015I really like these for all the same reasons that the other reviewers do, but I have "thick" thighs and these pants are just too tight in the upper leg area. I'm 5'11" / 205lbs / 36 waist / 32 inseam and tried a size large. They are comfortable because of the stretchy fabric, but the tight-pant look is not my thing :)
I think that I would like to try an XL, but I have not seen that size available.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by wild h from fargo on Wednesday, February 25, 2015I have a phenix coat and loved it so when my pants bit the dust, I figured phenix would be the best replacement. Excellent material on these pants. I ordered a size large and glad I did. I'm 6' 175 with 33" waist and inseam. Pants for perfect. The waist is highly adjustable and could either way for me. They are a slightly slimmer fit but the 4 way stretch material is great. If highly recommend these.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by BobSkiVT from New Jersey on Tuesday, February 3, 2015These pants are very high quality. They are very comfortable because of the 4-way stretch, waterproof, and not bulky feeling. Not a baggy fit. I'm 6' 5" tall, weigh 200 lbs, and I tried both the L and XL sizes. Either would have worked, but I kept the XL. The huge degree of adjustability in the waist allowed me to do this comfortably, and now I have the option of wearing a heavy layer (or two) underneath for extra frigid days skiing in New England.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Prior Outdoor Retail Buyer from Virginia on Monday, January 26, 2015As always Phenix makes a great line of clothing at their top ends (as most brands do). This pant is very comfortable for me (6'2" 185lbs...thin build). It is constructed with quality. The one draw back from my personal taste is that the lower leg gator does not have the ability to open it, so you have to stick your leg through a tube essentially, which would not work well if you like to take your pants off while behind your car at a ski resort. I'm modifying these (invalidating the warranty of course) to add a bit of velcro for this inner cuff.
Question & Answer
Definitely not baggy. I am 6 ft 5 in, tall, weigh 200 lb, with a 36 in waist. I tried a L first, and the fit was an almost perfect athletic (almost slim) fit. I think that's what you'll get if you follow the Phenix size chart. I ended up getting an XL for a little more length, and room underneath for even a heavy weight mid layer. Now the fit is a little more "regular".
“How much insulation is in these pants? Is it just a little more then a shell, or is it very warm nsulation? (I ski mostly in Tahoe...we don't need super warm.) Thanks.”
They are basically a lined shell.
