I have a 9' #10 weight rod but use a #9 line with a 8lb tippet. the rod & line combination serves me well in fast water for steelhead trout. The rod has all the power I need to get the fish in quickly.I now am using this rod in 30deg. weather great results.

Had 5 wt, liked alot, basically same rod as XL-I, friend broke pulling line from tip top though. sent back to powell with [$] for replacement and sent back ti-max, which I think would be considered an upgrade, like that rod as well.
