Powell TMX Fishing Fly Rod - 4-Piece, 9' 6wt

I bought one awhile ago and with my wife getting more engaged in fishing she liked the fel and action on this rod as well, For the price at STP I dont think this rod can be beat. It's shown itself to be a very good general utility rod, that has a good feel, weight, balance, and action - and most importantly she likes it so we'll have more time on the water together

Nice stiff rod, haven't used it yet but looks great for big trout. I have an 8-wt powell rod that I've been very pleased with. Can't beat it for the money!

All weights of this model are similar in performance, casting easily, carrying plenty of line in false-casting and should not require any over-lining for casting ease (loading). At the same time it will cast very long for modest skill levels.

I love the action of this rod! I thought that it might br more rigid because of the number of connections/sections. That's not the case, it is one sensitive rod that sufficiently packs down. I only wish it came with a rod & reel case for transport. It's nice to purchase a high end rod at such a good price! Thanks Sierra Trading Post!

Used this rod form the first time on a 8 day backcountry trip in the Weminuche wilderness. Weminuche is known throughout the world as a premier trout fishing destination...this rod met the challenge with flying colors. Also will be put to good use during Oregon's fishing season(s).

I not only found the six weight fly rod I was looking for, but I found it at a remarkable price. The action is beautiful, somewhere between med. fast and fast....perfect for my casting stroke. It's hard to find a six weight with two stripping guides and contrasting thread wraps for under $300.00, much less one with the fit and finish and attention to detail of the Powell TMX. I couldn't be more pleased and look forward to chasing big Conestoga river smallies with it this spring!

This is a great rod for someone who likes faster stiff action rods.

Fished the rod on a medium size river. Excellent with line out. A little fast when I was working close in - though certainly adequate for close work. Nice fit and finish. Balances nicely with a light 6 wt reel.

nice travel rod at v. reasonable price

Arrived as described. Very nice feel for a rod in this range - yes it's a tad heavier than I'd prefer and the balance flows more to the hand than the tip, but for well under $150 this is a bargain. Very nice case too.
