My first apex was accidently flung into a deep fast-moving creek, stayed "on" the entire night, and I was not able to retrieve it. I purchased this hoping it was the same 190 Lumen model that I had previously; unfortunatly, it is not.
If your looking for a good general purpose headlamp that is built tough (an proven waterproof), this model will serve you well. If you are hoping to use your lamp for adventure racing, nightime bike riding, or orienteering, I would suggest you look into the 190 lumen model--once you have that kind of power its difficult to go without.

These lights are awesome. The pro and con is battery life. It's good on the second brightest setting but poor on high. But that's life! There are no lights that last a long time when they are this bright. But, the second brightest setting is great for caving. The light pattern is really good too. Make sure to stock up on batteries though. Multi-packs of Surefire and similar on line are $1.25 to 2.50 each - Duracell at [@] are $5 ea! [@] has 2 pks for 5 bucks in the flashlights (not where the batteries are sold).
