Reviewed by Gear junkie from Northern MN on Tuesday, April 16, 2013I love Princeton tec headlamps but wasn't sure about the cr123 battery but i like it better the the triple a's. The cr123 is lighter, smaller, brighter and cheaper when compared to 3 lithium AAA. I put glow in the dark paint on the strap to make it easier to find since its all black.

Reviewed by topshot from Maine on Thursday, March 07, 2013This is a great product! However, the CR!23 lithium, especially the super long-lasting variety, is getting harder and harder to find. Therefore, I'd suggest picking a different model that uses a more common battery type.

The CR123A batteries are also really cheap on line and last much better than AAA or AAs. Just stick with a major brand. The choice between low and high settings on both the 3-LEDs and the much more powerful Maxbright LED make it excellent for both close up work and also when you need more power for distance, and the Maxbright really has good throw to the beam. Read the directions on switching between the modes......it's very easy once you try it. Holding down the button automatically toggles between the 3-LEDs and the Maxbright and then switch from low to high on that mode. After a second or so on any mode and then the next button press turns it off,. It couldn't be easier. I highly recommend this one.

Question “What is the battery life for this CR123 model? The specs in the product description say 40 hours on HIGH but the package says 40 hours on LOW (and only 3.6 hrs on HIGH). This is a big difference. FWIW, AAA version package says 28 hrs on HIGH and 200 hours on LOW.”

Answer The battery life is relative to temp. and the type of battery used. Burn time can vary with the bulbs that are used.

Answer The AAA version has longer battery life than this CR123 version. According to Princeton Tec's web site:||For Remix Pro (with CR123 battery).|MaxBright LED High- 4hrs|MaxBright LED Low- 7hrs|3 wide angle LEDs High - 5hrs|3 wide angle LEDs Low - 40 hrs||For the AAA version|MaxBright LED High- 28 hrs|MaxBright LED Low- 53 hrs|3 wide angle LEDs High - 61 hrs|3 wide angle LEDs Low - 200 hrs||I'd think that the difference in weight 83g vs 66g, wouldn't be worth the difference in life for me.
