Shirt is well made of quality material. Description is a apt: it certainly is lightweight. As such, it will make an excellent go-to layer when just a bit of extra protection and warmth is needed while hiking or for similar activities, and it is light and packable, so having it along won't weigh me down, even if I don't need it. The shirt is not insulated and fabric is thin (not cheap -- it's sturdiness is derived from the ripstop nature of it) so I won't be counting on it for serious protection from cold or blustery conditions, but it cuts wind effectively and with a good under layer should be just right in cool and windy climes. Fit is a bit snug - I am 5'10, 200 lbs, and large usually works for me - the large in this appears cut for slimmer guys. Still, given that a light under garment is all I am going to be wearing in concert with this, the fit will be fine.

I wanted a wind shirt that was light and compactable enough that I would never leave it behind. I got that and much more. I am 6'1/190lbs and the large fits perfectly over mid weight layers. It is not an athletic fit so I wouldn't reccomend for highly aerobic sports like cycling or XC skiing. I was expecting a nylon feel to the fabric but it is actually soft, comfortable and quiet. The rollup hood stows away nicely and makes the collar stand up for more protection. When zipped up the collar feels good against skin. The hood is very form fitting so I see it as more of an emergency hood. I was surprised how it cuts high winds and is very breathable. The fabric also repels melting snow and appears very water resistent but I have not tested it in the rain yet. As I mentioned earlier the greatest asset is the compactablity. This windshirt can be stored anywhere and the 5oz weight seems right on. I was also surprised to find this type of product made in the USA and the high quality and craftmanship shows. Get this wind shirt.

Ordered xl and found that the windshirt was to large for what I wanted it for. I am 5'10" 210 lbs. I wanted it for a mid layer under a shell and a stand alone for travel. It is well made with a hood that tucks into the collar and when you take the hood out it is form fitting being held in place with a stretch hem. This is a fine wind shirt but should have ordered the large. I did not try it outside but feel it would work well as a layering piece. I sent it back.
