“Pulp & Blue Willi's have become my favorite "aging hippie" brand of clothing. Both combine high quality fabric & workmanship with "whimsy". I adore these shorts because of the below-the-waist waist band which is shaped to the body, not requiring an hour glass figure. This shaping actually allows the wearer to get more than one size out of them depending on where you want the waist to ride. I like above the hip bones, but well below the navel. I'm in the process of losing 20 lb gained from a medication error & I've been able to wear these through 3 size reductions, starting with them tightly ON my navel, now riding loosely on my hip bones. I'm afraid they are about to fall off now & I'm crushed there are no smaller sizes available, because I'd snap them up. Pulp adds "hippie-ish" & feminine detailing to every garment, allowing me to wear clothing reminiscent of my college days even though I'm nearly 59. This same garment made by a high end US brand would cost astronomically more. Also, since I used to construct all of my work clothing & am trained in tailoring as well as fine needlework, I can truly appreciate the cost of the detailing on these garments. It's not the embroidery elements; computerized sewing machines make that fairly simple. But, the extra fabric "pieces" needed for odd shaped pockets, extra pockets, asymmetrical & bias cutting, IS expensive. It takes considerably more fabric & considerably more labor to construct the garments; that is where the cost is figured into the item, along with the quality of the fabric. These shorts have so many "extras" that it would make them very time-intensive to make at home, the quality of the fabric is superior, such that I can't emphasize well enough what a bargain these shorts really are. And, "whimsical" though they may be, they will not ever go out of style. These shorts will last longer than the wearer & be available as an heirloom for your granddaughter to wear to a "millennium" dance when she's in high school!”
