Ralph Lauren is usually pretty reliable, if not always downright good looking. This coat is wonderful with classic good looks, and is exactly that I'd expect from such a garment. Being able to order it in an L size made for a perfect fit over suits, and its finish and detail are plenty competent. My only gripe is that not long into my wearing of the coat, each of the buttons lost their moorings and required reattachment. Not a huge deal but irritating. Nevertheless, when I see them on sale and in my size, I'm tempted to order another even though I already have one in each color. Highly recommended - I wouldn't be without one.

I have to wear a suit/tie when meeting with customers and I needed a warm and good looking overcoat. This fit the bill. The only thing that I found wrong involved the buttons - the top button was loose and is about to fall off after wearing it over a few days. For the low price I paid I suppose I can get it fixed but it is inconvenient.
Question
“The Length is said be (Long) 46 inches, is that measured from the back of the coat, from top of collar to bottom of hem?||Do you ship to the United Kingom?”
Asked on 8/6/2012 12:00:00 AM by Gerald from United Kingdom
Answer
The jacket materials could be either 80% lambswool/polyester or they could be 90% wool/10% cashmere. Ralph Lauren makes the coat both ways.

“I wear a size 42r in most suits. Do I size up to a 44R is I want to wear this over a suit jacket? I noticed some reviews stated that it ran large.”

Answer
I would recommend ordering a 42 which has reviewed to still fit as it's true to size.

Answer
MW, I ordered a size 42S based on the sizing chart, I normally wear a size 40 suit. When I got the coat and tried it on over a suit coat, it was large. I would order your normal suit size. I have exchanged my 42S for a 40S, but have not received it to confirm the size.|Hope this helps.

Answer
I wear a 42R and bought this coat at that size. It fits perfectly on me, especially when I wear it over a sport/suit coat. I think they make them slightly large for just that purpose.

Answer
Pick the 42R. The coat is a heavy weight (which is good) and is sized correctly for overwear.

Answer
The coat will be fine in an occasional light rain, but it is not the type of coat you would want to wear to protect you in a downpour.

Yes,it will get you through a rainy day. But I pair it with a umbrella just to keep from soaking through.

Question
“Do the Short, Regular and Long designations apply only to the overall length of the coat, or also to sleeve length? E.g., if I normally wear a 40R suit or sportcoat, would I order this overcoat in 40R, or can I choose between long, short, or regular depending on my overall length preference?”

Answer
I would order a 42 regular this is a coat not a suit

Answer
From our experience, it seems the sleeves are long. We purchased a 44Short and had to have the sleeves altered; the rest of the coat fit like a charm.

Question
“How do you determine size for this particular coat? and whether or not to order regular or long? My son is 6"3" and wears a 16 1/2|x 36 dress shirt. ||thanks”
Asked on 11/24/2009 12:00:00 AM by Mom from Charlottesville VA
Answer
You will need to measure his chest just below the armpits. A two-finger space should used between the tape measure and the body. That measurement will be equal to the size of the coat. If he is between sizes you should go to the next size up. The "long" sizes will have about 2 more inches in the sleeve length.|Here is the center back length measurement:|Regular 44½", Short 43½", Long 45½", X-Long 46½"
