Very thin and they kind of buch up in the wash. Have to adjust the toe seam to keep from rubbing. Not the usual Smartwool quality.

At last! Warm feet and the sock is not so heavy--allowing it to fit in every shoe, and the solid color is perfect under dress pants.

SmartWool makes great socks.....especially if you appreciate the comforting feel of wool on your feet. This is a great traveling and dress sock.

These were the second pair of Cable-Knit socks I've bought for my mother because she liked them so much. They last pair wore out after a month or two of continual use. From my experience the thicker, athletic walking/running socks last much longer, but these are great for their look, and more casual use. As opposed to other SmartWool socks, which my mother has trouble fighting comfortably into some of her boots, these slip in perfectly.

Answered on 3/28/2011 12:00:00 AM by Ace from Ann Arbor, MI
    • Answer Nope. I launder mine in warm or cold water, and put in the dryer regular cycle, which their website says is fine. They add that to avoid pilling (too late for some of my smartwool socks), you should turn inside out before drying.
Answered on 3/29/2011 12:00:00 AM by loves comfort from boston, ma
    • Answer These are made from superwash wool which can be laundered in warm water and machine dried. No shrinking and the convenience of machine laundering.
Answered on 4/12/2011 12:00:00 AM by Megan M from Tampa Bay, FL
    • Answer It might, depending on the amount of agitation, your detergent, whether there are heavy things like denim in the load, and how warm "warm" is in your system. My entire family wears Smartwool socks,; when my thinner ones get mixed in a load done by one the guys, once in a while I get some shrinkage. So far I've been able to re-block the affected sock by tugging it gently back to size. Still, I'd suggest a wash in cold.
Answered on 4/16/2011 12:00:00 AM by Walks a lot from Indiana
    • Answer No shrinkage observed.
Answered on 5/12/2011 12:00:00 AM by Champagne Tastes, Beer Income from Sydney
    • Answer No, but cooking them in the dryer might. They are pretty impervious.

    • Answer Sock sizes are the same as shoe sizes.

    • Answer I always go by shoe size.
Answered on 2/2/2011 12:00:00 AM by Animal Lover from Boston
    • Answer Most sock sizes, like medium, specify the range of corresponding shoe sizes. That's what I go by.

  • Question “what shoe size is appropriate for sock size 7-9”
Asked on 1/17/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer Sock sizes and shoe sizes are the same.
Answered on 1/26/2011 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
  • Question “why don't I ever find large on sale? I wear size 10 shoes and the mediums just are too small. I am a diabetic and have sensitive feet. I have to resort to buying men's, which doesn't provide colors or styles I want. Think about all the tall women with large feet please.”
