They are very warm but don't make your feets sweat. They are very comfortable and don't bunch up. I would highly recommend them!!!

Color is a taupe that goes well with hiking boots and fit is close but in no way binding. I've washed them and they came through beautifully. They're warm but my feet didn't overheat. They'll get a lot of use!

Answer Either work, it just depends on how much padding you want. A thicker sock will take up more room in the boot and will lower the volume. Wool socks will keep your feet dry and somewhat cool. Happy hiking.
