These are so comfortable and so well made. I got them in pink even though I know this is not my favorite color. I have reynaud's syndrome which makes my hands and feet cold very easily. These help a lot and I wear them at home, to sleep in, and sometimes with boots. Very nice!

I've worn these already and they are so comfortable. They may be 2nds but I do not see any reason that they are. They are wonderful to wear.

These socks fit really well. Good weight and accurate description. I love my SmartWool socks, and the fact that these are 50% of the normal cost makes them even better.

I love these wonderful socks. They are so comfortable and last for a long time. I hike daily and wouldn't know what I would do with owning many pair of Smartwood hiking socks.

I like these socks a lot. They seem to be the perfect weight for hiking. I would prefer a slightly lower top part, but I just roll these down and it creates a nice barrier right at the tongue of my boot. I bought my first 2 pair about a year ago, and they're still holding up. I wanted to buy more of the same, but my recent order, which had the same item number and color, are slightly different.

The color is off a bit and the crew part of the sock is about a half inch longer. Which rolls up into a bigger 'ball' at the tongue of my boot. I like the old pair better.

I thought maybe I didn't order the same sock, but I checked the item number and they are exactly the same. I hope they go back to the old 'style'.

Still, its a good sock for hiking, and seems fairly durable.

    • Answer Yes, the entire sock is constructed of wool. Smartwool socks used to have higher percentages of wool but currently many are made with less than 70%. Be sure to check the amount of wool as each pair varies. I have been wearing Smartwool socks for years and occasionally try other brands. None compare!

  • Question “Would these socks work well as running socks?”
Asked on 4/23/2011 12:00:00 AM by RunningGal from Northern California
    • Answer If you don't mind having a higher sock, this would work. They are a medium weight so will be warmer but wool wicks the moisture away from your foot to keep it dry.

    • Answer Dear fellow sock wearer,||I am not a runner so cant give you really precise info, however, they have a well cushioned interior, and the merino wool is resilient and gives a bit of bounce. Apart from the bright bright yellow colour ( possibly invaluable if you are running in one of those dark Northern winters ) I would say these would be just right for your purpose.
