These are so comfortable and so well made. I got them in pink even though I know this is not my favorite color. I have reynaud's syndrome which makes my hands and feet cold very easily. These help a lot and I wear them at home, to sleep in, and sometimes with boots. Very nice!

Once a diehard SmartWool fan, I now find them to be poor fitting and inferior quality--they do not stay soft and fluffy after washings. They rub hot spots, and they are not supportive. Much better are the Keen and IceBreaker hiking socks. I will not be buying more SmartWool any time soon.

As always, you can't beat merino wool for sockwear. SmartWool is such a dependable brand..I own about 12 pair and by washing inside out and then air drying on a hanger, they have lasted for years. Finding them on sale is the way to buy ??

I bought these for a hiking friend of mine, and she just loves them. They're just the right weight for her. She'd had thinner hiking socks before and much prefers these.

I bought these and wore them for the first time during a strenuous hike through Yosemite. They were great.

I've been wearing SmartWool socks for years and Sierra always has great pricing on these socks.

    • Answer Yes, the entire sock is constructed of wool. Smartwool socks used to have higher percentages of wool but currently many are made with less than 70%. Be sure to check the amount of wool as each pair varies. I have been wearing Smartwool socks for years and occasionally try other brands. None compare!

  • Question “Would these socks work well as running socks?”

Asked on 4/23/2011 12:00:00 AM by RunningGal from Northern California
    • Answer If you don't mind having a higher sock, this would work. They are a medium weight so will be warmer but wool wicks the moisture away from your foot to keep it dry.

    • Answer Dear fellow sock wearer,||I am not a runner so cant give you really precise info, however, they have a well cushioned interior, and the merino wool is resilient and gives a bit of bounce. Apart from the bright bright yellow colour ( possibly invaluable if you are running in one of those dark Northern winters ) I would say these would be just right for your purpose.
