To try them is to love them. Other reviews say it all, but I want to emphasize that the fit is terrific for big waist/small butt/small thigh (older) women as well as the more fortunately proportioned. I was reluctant to try them because it is hard for me to find a good fit. They have wonderful fre... Read More

material is very thick and stiff. There is no give or softness. Fit was simply odd. Loose in places, tight in others. Returned.

These shorts slip on and off easily - no zippers or buttons. This is great when you need to change clothes in a tent, for example. (I just like pulling them on at home in the summer without fuss.) They only need to be ironed if you want to wear them "dressed up" with a crisp white sleeveless top. I gave up on other shorts because they wrinkle easily and alway need to be ironed before wearing. Finally, these shorts last and last. I have no idea whether they will ever wear out, because I'm still wearing the first pair I bought many years ago.

I ordered 2 pr in size 16 and they were true to size. The material is sturdy, soft cotton and simple design. They should last a long time. Looks good, deep pockets and I'm happy. Good price also!!

True to size, real cotton, comfortable, and fun to wear. Just wish there were more colors.

    • Answer I checked the tag and the shorts are 98% cotton and 2% spandex. They really keep their shape even on a long day. I hope this helps you.
Answered on 7/25/2016 5:58:26 AM by NC teacher from North Carolina
    • Answer No sure if my answer is the best; here goes. The Gramicci shorts that I have purchased are cotton twill, no spandex. The tag inside says "Original Freedom Gramicci".

Gramicci's web site did not show this product, so perhaps (?) it is being phased out.

Just FYI: I love the cotton twill shorts. Sturdy, well-made, and room to move, which is the idea with Gramiccis. They will fit differently than any other shorts, but give 'em a try.

    • Answer They are different products. I recently got some all cotton ones from STP and prefer them to the ones with spandex. For the style there is no need for stretch and it does make them hotter.

    • Answer These shorts come to about 3" above my knee and I am 5'5" and 137lbs. I wear a size 8 in jeans so I ordered the M. If you have a straight figure(not hour glass) and good legs, the S should fit you because they are a little baggy…. hope this helps :-)

    • Answer I am 5'5" and 137lbs. I wear a size 8 in jeans most of the time. I ordered M because I have a thicker waist. I could have squeezed a S up over my hips but I think the shorts would have been a little tight and I wanted them for freedom of movement when hiking. Hope this helps :-)
Answered on 6/9/2011 12:00:00 AM by Mercymee from San Luis Obispo, CA.
    • Answer I would order a small if I were you. I comfortably wear a size 12, and the medium fits fine. The shorts are very roomy and I'd guess you'll be swimming in a medium. Good length - I do not like my shorts too short, and these were on the longer side for me - I'm only 5'-3", so they may be fine for you.

Asked on 3/27/2010 12:00:00 AM by Lisa the Poodlemom from Dubin, VA
    • Answer I would recommend ordering an XL, since there's a belt you can adjust the waist if needed.
Answered on 3/29/2010 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer These tend to run a little larger in the past few years. I would get a large. I also wear a 16 and the large are a good fit.

    • Answer I am returning the pair I just bought due to sizing. I usually wear a 10. I bought an M and was swimming in them. My waist is about 31 and hips about 39. If I were you, I sure wouldn't get the XL. Hope it helps.
