The gusset end crotch is perfect for that, as well as the non-restrictive waistband

I got tire of waiting and ordered a size small in the 30". It works just fine. The rise is a bit long since it is meant for men but its not too bad.

Question “These are titled "sports pants" byGrimicci pants but are made of cotton. Where I hike in the adirondscks wearing cotton is a no no. Is there something about these and other Grimicci cotton pants that make them sport pants and not just sporty pants.?”

Answer The features and toughness of the fabric are why Gramicci calls these sport pants. These may not be the best choice for back county excursions because they are cotton, but there are many other outdoor activities that the pant can be used.
