Well some wouldn't think it, but it can get cold-ish down here in Georgia. My sister from Iowa, while visiting during Christmas, commented on how much more humid it was down here and how much colder it made 30 degrees feel compared to the same temperature in Iowa. I've been wanting a pair of warm... Read More

GREAT LEATHER, LINING AND SOLES BUT... I GAVE THESE A GOOD TRY BEFORE WRITING THIS REVIEW BUT MY OPINION HAS NOT CHANGED IN 1.5 WINTERS. THEY ARE HEAVY AND ARE OLD SCHOOL IN DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE (USUALLY THIS IS A GOOD THING, BUT NOT WITH A THICK VIBRAM SOLE WITH THIS PARTICULAR STYLE AND LEATHER). THE SOLES ARE TOO THICK AND STIFF AND CONTINUE TO BE SO. AND THIS WILL NOT LIKELY CHANGE. I AM TALL AND DO NOT NEED THE EXTRA HEIGHT FROM THE SOLES OF THESE BOOTS. GETTING IN AND OUT IS A PROBLEM AS THEY ARE TIGHT OVER THE ARCH AND MY SOCKS KEEP SLIDING DOWN. THERE IS LITTLE ROOM TO TUCK IN YOUR PANTS AND WHEN I MANAGE TO GET MY PANTS IN THEM THEY KEEP SLIDING OUT (I HAVE NORMAL SIZE CALVES). SO I INTEND TO GIVE THEM TO THE USED CLOTHES STORE AS THEY WILL ONLY COLLECT DUST IN MY CLOSET. THE MOST DISAPPOINTING PURCHASE THUS FAR FROM STP.

Great boots. We'll made. I'd like to see them made in a summer version without the warm liner.

Alico North Cape Wellington Boots are well made, very comfortable, warm and not too heavy. Not too heavy in spite of how solid the construction. I liked them so much I ordered a second pair. You know, just to have them ready to go after the 20+ years it would take to wear out the first pair!

As everyone here says, these are impressive boots. I love them. The shearling pile makes them easy to slip on and off. There are seemingly contradictory reviews regarding sizing. Here's what I found: it ordered them in my regular size, but found my toes hitting the end of the boot. Reordered a half size larger and they are fine. Yes they are wide, but I use orthotics and they take up enough volume to make the boots fit perfectly now. Couldn't be happier with them (other than having to endure my wife's criticism for being a spend-thrift)!

This is a follow up on my earlier review. I've been wearing these for about a month now. They still look brand new and I enjoy the fit and warmth very much. My only issue, and its a big issue, is that I find the sole material to be extremely slippery on snow and ice, and even on wet surfaces. The boots are very disconcerting to wear when walking on snowy and icy surfaces, and this is a big disappointment for what is otherwise a great winter boot. I am surprised that I don't see mention of this in other reviews. It is such an issue that I will probably contact a cobbler to see if I can have the boots resoled with a more grippy material. Other than this issue I am very pleased with the boots.

    • Answer I don't have 13s but...I have a pr of 9.5 and size 10 for real cold wthr. Thicker Sox. That said, I think the width is pretty close to the summit last. If you want to fit extra thick Sox go up one half size.y

    • Answer Yes they work fine, I'm using custom orthotics in these without problem. They do come with the typical removable footbed.

    • Answer Yes, it has a removable insole so you will have room for orthotics. I usually wear a size 9 but dropped a half size and that worked well. As with all my leather boots, I use Bear Grease on them for protection

    • Answer The Anfibio leather is treated for waterproofness and breathability, I would recommend to care for them as you would care for any leather boot.||Wipe off the Dust||Remember that leather is skin and will react the way skin does so the most important thing you can do in caring for any piece of leather footwear is to keep it free of dust. Dust will settle into the creases of boots. The dust acts like sandpaper cutting the finish with every step you take. Sooner or later it will cut through not only the finish but the fiber itself and the leather will split. So, wipe off your boots often, not just before you shine them, but every time you take them off. Wipe the dust off with anything you have handy, you do not need a special brush or cloth. You do need to make this a habit, you cannot wipe them off too often.||||Wash off Loose Dirt||Boots need a good cleaning and conditioning every so often, Begin by removing loose dirt and dried mud with a damp cloth, followed by a good brushing of the boot.||||Apply a Quality Conditioner||While the leather is still moist, apply a lather conditioner. Once it has dried, it should be buffed with a soft cloth. The final step is to apply a boot cream to the boot and buff. As a pointer on the boot cream color, choose a cream a shade or two darker then the color of the boot. Leathers fade slightly as they age and this will return them to their original color. You should use a matching color cream with new boots. Never mix brushes! Keep brushes for each color of polish with that particular brush.|||Exotic Leathers especially reptiles have deeper textures that do not absorb conditioner and cream as quickly. Apply these in several thin layers rather then all at once. Apply conditioner to snakes gently against scales then rub down with scale direction. You should never let snakeskin boots to dry out.|||Harder surface exotics like lizard and alligator require a little more time in keeping dust and dirt out of the tiles especially in the folds as boots age. The life of the boot is greatly extended by keeping them clean and conditioned. Be sure to brush conditioner all the way to the sole line. Many people forget that area of the boot and it can cause the boot to crack and pull away at the sole. If the boot has a leather sole, it should also be conditioned. This increases the life of the sole because it restores moisture, which deters cracking.||Stubborn stains may require a little extra work to remove. Sticky spots such as dried soda or alcohol can be removed by using a solution of equal parts of water and vinegar. Most scuffs and marks can be removed with a pencil eraser. It is important to remember that when conditioning or if the boots get wet, you need to allow them to dry away from direct heat.||Boot wax is not really necessary except where a spit shine is needed. The wax can be applied over the cream. You can use saddle soap if you do not let it dry on the boots and you do not rub it in. Saddle soap should be wiped off wet. Mink oil is another product frequently used. It will waterproof the boots, but also seals the pores and eventually causes cracking. It is not recommended for boots.||One final thing to remember is that wax is water based and will dry out boots. A coat of cream should always be applied first.

    • Answer You could try the better-recommended method to clean the top-grain or full grain leather carefully, first, and then apply a top-notch matching product that accentuates the process to seal the boot against moisture once it is well-cleaned and ready. A water resistant or proof sealant need not soften the leather or break down its strength, so be wary of these kinds of treatments or pre-treatments that overly compromise the high quality and strength of expensive leather... In the instance of these fine Italian boots, like others similarly made to high standards, to try the nikwax aqueous leather treatment after cleaning them with the matching gel cleaner, would probably do the least damage to the boots in the long run and not leave undesirable contents in the leather... You can usually buy the nikwax from STP in the website at a fair price and the two items often come in a kit with both together... But read carefully, as the aqueous 'wax' is not a regular shoe wax nor is it petroleum based. For use with worn shoes, more than one cleaning and second waterproof treatment may be necessary... see the customer reviews on these products here at STP. Be sure to choose the correct product, when they are available & not sold out.
